My Committees
I proudly serve on the Committee
on Energy & Commerce and sit on three
subcommittees: Telecommunications and the Internet; Health; and Environment
and Hazardous Materials. The Energy & Commerce Committee has probably
the widest range of responsibility in the House, overseeing health care,
energy, environmental protection, telecommunications, trade, consumer protection
and other important issues. In addition to working on these issues, from
my seat on the committee I have become a nationally recognized leader on
a variety of issues, including Medicare reform, the nursing shortage, cancer,
stroke and heart disease, domestic violence, and MTBE groundwater contamination.
I also serve on the influential Natural
Resources Committee and sit on
two subcommittees: Fisheries, Wildlife and Oceans; and National Parks,
Forests and Public Lands. Serving on this committee provides me with
an opportunity to help guarantee the long term protection of our nation’s
public lands and coastal waters. On this committee I work to ensure that
we serve as faithful stewards and manage our precious natural resources
in a responsible manner.
