WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Lois Capps released the following statement reacting to today’s Bush Administration decision to support the California Coastal Commissions’ objection to the proposed 241 Toll Road extension that would negatively impact San Onofre State Beach:
“The Secretary’s decision to protect San Onofre State Beach is supported by the law, science, and commonsense. I only wish that the Administration’s other environmental policies were dictated by the facts, instead of politics and ideology. Development along our coastline threatens wildlife habitat and public access. Any alternative to this toll road must adhere to federal, state, and local environmental laws and I’ll be monitoring this closely to ensure that it does.”
