Dear Friends:

Each May, I look forward to Armed Forces Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the opportunity to lead the Oath of Enlistment for Hoosiers joining our Armed Forces.

We came together this year on May 18 for the 28th time at the Speedway to swear in young men and women who will make a difference not only in the lives of their families but likewise our world.

Our armed forces have the ability to make a supreme difference, and I thank the 55 recruits for their commitment and service.

As always, I thank you for reading the Lugar Letter and wish you continuing success.

Sincerely,

Dick Lugar

The luncheon’s dessert featured chocolate bars and assorted chocolates donated by DeBrand Fine Chocolates in Fort Wayne.

Signed copies of Tony Dungy’s autobiography, Quiet Strength, were distributed as gifts.

The Thursday Club Luncheon began as a small group of Republican senators meeting in their personal offices for lunch. Today, senators rotate hosting duties of the weekly lunches, sharing food and gifts that represent their home states.
