Congressman Davis named to key leadership post

January 30, 2007

Washington, DC --
Congressman David Davis has been named as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Contracting & Technology, which is a division of the Small Business Committee.

“I feel very blessed,” Congressman Davis said. “This is a welcomed leadership position in my first-term. I will continue to work hard for the First District, now, as Ranking Member,” he said. “I had a contract business that dealt directly with technology, so this is a great fit.”

The Ranking Member on a committee is the leader of his/her party in that committee. Other members of Congress will look to the Ranking Member for information and direction on the Subcommittee or full Committee’s actions.

"Congressman David Davis' background as both a legislator and an entrepreneur in the health services industry makes him the ideal candidate to lead the Small Business Subcommittee on Contracting and Technology," said Congressman Steve Chabot, Republican Leader of the House Small Business Committee. “I look forward to Congressman Davis’ service and believe he’ll be a great addition to our leadership team."

The Subcommittee on Contracting and Technology has jurisdiction over the critical Section 8(a) Business Development program as well as the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program and the Small Business Technology Transfer program.

When Republicans regain the majority, Congressman Davis is anticipated to be the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Contracting & Technology.

Congressman Davis is also a member of the Subcommittee on Urban & Rural Entrepreneurship.
