Social Security

The hard working citizens of our country have paid into the Social Security system for the majority of their life with the expectation that the system would be there when they retire.  Financial security after retirement is not only important to our current seniors, but also to our existing and future workforce.

The baby boom generation consists of 77 million Americans who will soon be set to retire.  Currently, there simply aren’t enough workers paying in to the Social Security system to support the growing number of retirees.  This is another example of the government’s inability to manage the financial and personal private citizens.  I support efforts to allow individuals to set up personal savings accounts to transfer accountability from Washington bureaucrats to private citizens with a personal stake in their own retirement.
