Information for Students

Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow's Leaders
Principals from every high school in Indiana are asked to select two juniors to attend the Symposium for Tomorrow's Leaders. In December 2008, more than 500 students participated. Check back in Fall 2009 for more information.

Financial Aid Information for Students
Senator Lugar and the Congressional Research Service to offer guidance and online resources on federal grants and nonfinancial assistance, as well as on private foundation funding. Visit the Financial Aid for Students page for the most up-to-date information.
Internship Program Information
Each semester and during the summer, Senator Lugar selects energetic and motived young college students to serve as interns. If you would like to find out more about an internship, visit the intern information page.
The Congressional Award

Service Academy Nomination Information
Each year, Senator Lugar accepts applications from young men and women who wish to study at one of our nation's service academies. If you would like to find out more about service academies, visit the academy information page.
Dick Lugar/Indiana Farm Bureau Essay Contest
In 1985, as Ranking Minority Member of the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee, Senator Lugar joined with Indiana Farm Bureau to sponsor a youth essay contest for 8th grade students which would focus attention on the importance of Indiana agriculture. United States Senate Youth Program
The United States Senate Youth Program is an excellent opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to deepen their knowledge of the Senate and the federal government overall, as well as receive a one-time five thousand dollar college scholarship to the undergraduate college of their choice. Begun in 1962 through Senate Resolution, the program is sponsored by the Senate each year to encourage high school students to pursue careers in public service.
