BACKGROUND:
U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, will convene a briefing to examine the critical role that investment in green technology and job creation will play in an economic recovery. Two experts, including Thomas Friedman, author of a number of influential books on the global economy, "The World is Flat" and "Hot, Flat and Crowded: Why We Need a Green Revolution - and How It Can Renew America," will participate. John Doerr, partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), who has been a visionary investor backing companies such as Google and Amazon and a number of green-tech start-ups, will also be giving a presentation.
