DODD STATEMENT ON SHAWN MAHER
U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs
Dec 23, 2008 - -

Washington, D.C. – Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, today made the following statement on Shawn Maher, the Committee’s Staff Director and General Counsel who will be the Obama Administration’s Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs for the United States Senate. Maher has served as Staff Director and General Counsel since Dodd became Chairman in January 2007; prior to that, he was Dodd’s Legislative Director.

“After nearly 14 years of working together, Shawn has become both a trusted advisor and a friend.  The commitment and passion for helping others that Shawn brings to his work have helped create changes that have improved the lives of many Americans.  Over the past two years, Shawn’s leadership, values, and vision have been invaluable to me, the Committee, and the country as we navigated the extraordinary challenges facing our economy.  Shawn’s deep and expansive knowledge of public policy as well as the way the Senate works prepare him for this next challenge.  I wish him the very best in his new position.”
