Congressman Sestak Kicks off 5K Event to Raise Arthritis Awareness

Others mostly wanted a sampling of delicious pancakes and a few even arrived with a competitive edge; but no matter their favorite aspect of the event, all of the more than 1,000 participants in the 2008 Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis took part in raising money and awareness for the Arthritis Foundation. Radnor, PA– Congressman Joe Sestak (PA-07) visited the Radnor Treatment Center, a part of the Joan Karnell Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, which delivers about one third of the Karnell Center’s cancer treatment. With nearly 1.4 million individuals diagnosed with cancer each year, the disease accounts for nearly one-quarter of deaths in the United States, exceeded only by heart diseases. Congressman Sestak Addresses Need to Limit Impact of Fiscal Crisis on Health Care

Philadelphia, PA– With the struggling economy threatening many industries nationwide, Congressman Joe Sestak (PA-07) briefed 150 leaders from the nation’s oldest and largest pediatric hospital in the nation about actions required to support the availability and affordability of health care. Speaking at the Children Hospital of Philadelphia’s (CHOP’s) bimonthly leadership meeting, the Congressman particularly emphasized the difficulty that medical students would encounter in paying for necessary education in certain fields and the potential that doctors would accept fewer patients who receive Medicare and Medicaid because those programs pay less. —  »
