December 30, 2008 Washington, DC – Nevada Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign today announced nearly $2.2 million is being awarded to the City of Caliente by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to replace and re-locate the city’s main water supply well and French drain system which were damaged by the flood following the winter storm of 2005. “This funding will go a long way toward preserving and securing the water supply in Caliente,” Reid said. “I am pleased that FEMA has recognized the importance of this project and thank them for directing the funds where they are needed.” “In our desert state, water is a precious commodity,” said
