U.S. Senator Evan Bayh - Serving the People of Indiana

Service Academy Nominations

Service Leaders Summit

The education provided at our nation’s service academies is of the highest quality and offers challenges that help develop our young people into the leaders of the future. Senator Bayh encourages all Hoosier young people to apply for this honor if they are physically fit, highly motivated, have high academic standards, leadership potential and a desire to serve their country.

Students who are residents of Indiana and interested in nomination to the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Naval Academy or the United States Military Academy may obtain applications online (available at the link provided below). Candidates must be at least 17 years of age, but not past their 22nd birthday on July 1 of the year they intend to enter the academy. All nomination applications will be reviewed by Senator Bayh’s Academy Selection Committee.

In addition to the application form, each potential nominee is required to submit three letters of recommendation, a summary of extracurricular activities, a high school transcript of courses, grades and class rank and SAT/ACT scores.  (To send your scores directly to the office, Senator Bayh’s SAT code is 1651, and his ACT code is 7127).  Submissions should also include a personal statement explaining why you are seeking this nomination and why you want to be commissioned to the academy.  A recent photograph is also required. All application and supporting materials must be received in Senator Bayh’s Indianapolis office by Oct.31.

It is recommended that applicants also notify the academy in which they are interested so that a pre-candidate questionnaire can be completed to allow a preliminary evaluation by the academy.

Nomination inquires should be addressed to:
