Welcome to the Oil Conservation Division's web site!

The Oil Conservation Division regulates oil, gas and geothermal activity in New Mexico. We gather oil and gas well production data; permit new oil, gas and injection wells; enforce the division's rules and the state's oil and gas statutes; and ensure that abandoned wells are properly plugged and that the land is responsibly restored.

Our mission is to assure the protection, conservation, management and responsible development of oil, gas and associated natural resources through professional, dynamic regulation and advocacy for the ultimate benefit of New Mexico.
