WASHINGTON — Senator Chuck Grassley said the U.S. Small Business Administration has made Pottawattamie County eligible for low-interest Economic Injury Disaster Loans and Physical Loans. The loans are available to small businesses that were adversely affected by the severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, hail and straight line winds that occurred on June 27, 2008.

            “The damage from this storm has been great, and I'm glad the Small Business Administration will be able to help,” Grassley said. “These loans can help small businesses meet their obligations.”

            The loans serve to help businesses meet installments on long-term debt, accounts payable and overhead expenses that would have been met if the disaster had not occurred.  Loans are available for up to $2 million for actual disaster-related financial needs of businesses.  Interest rates cannot exceed 4 percent and terms may extend up to 30 years.
