Arranging Tours Around Washington D.C.
As you can imagine, since September 11, 2001, there have been many changes in
tour procedures. Nearly all points of interest in Washington, D.C., require a
Congressional reservation and/or ticket. Since the tours are operating on a
limited basis, we recommend that you send your request at least four to six
weeks in advance of your proposed tour date. Also, be prepared for more
restricted security guidelines. Security regulations allow a search of all the
contents on a person; therefore, avoid bringing large book bags and back packs.
Please arrive about ten to fifteen minutes before your scheduled tour time.

Tours available include:

The White House
The United States Capitol Building
The Federal Bureau of Investigation
The United States Supreme Court
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
Library of Congress
National Archives
Bureau of Engraving and Printing
Mount Vernon
The United States Treasury Building

However, several federal offices have changed their tour policies recently to reflect the need for increased public safety. As of October, 2001, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pentagon have suspended their tours indefinitely, and all requests for tours after September, 2001, will not be honored. My offices are currently not able to accept reservations for these tours. We will resume the coordination of these tours when security restrictions have been lifted.
