Kerry to Present Education Agenda at National School Board Association Conference

Monday, February 1, 1999

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On Monday, February 1, 1999 Senator John Kerry (D-MA) will present his comprehensive education reform agenda at the National Association of School Board (NSBA) annual federal relations conference. Also on the speaking program are President Bill Clinton and Senator Gordon Smith (R-OR), co-sponsor of the Kerry-Smith education plan.

The conference will include over 800 locally elected school board members from across the country. Kerry has set forth a specific plan of action to implement comprehensive reform in the public school system. Kerry and co-sponsor Smith will introduce their bi-partisan Plan to Educate America's Children in the next week. The Kerry-Smith agenda empowers states and local school districts to ensure that children begin school ready to learn, facilitate vital partnerships between teachers, administrators, parents and communities, raise teacher quality and reward teacher excellence in teaching, and expand public school choice.
