Congressman Kingston welcomes Camden County native to House
Rev. Elliott Foss delivers opening prayer

Washington, Apr 2, 2008 -

Congressman Jack Kingston (GA-1) today welcomed Camden County resident Elliott Foss to deliver the opening prayer for the House of Representatives.

“It was a great pleasure to welcome Elliott to Washington,” Congressman Kingston said.  “He is a great guy and a great man of the Lord.  Sometimes it takes bringing in a guest preacher to hear the word Jesus in this town.”

Reverend Foss, who serves as National Chaplain of the American Legion, was nominated to deliver the prayer by Congressman Kingston and selected by Reverend Daniel P. Coughlin, Chaplain of the House.  On Tuesday morning, he delivered the opening prayer before the Senate.

“I believe this was the first time someone delievered the prayer in both the House and Senate back to back,” Congressman Kingston said.

Reverend Foss prayed:

“God, Bless America.  Continue to shine your face on us as we need your guidance and protection now, more than ever.

“God, Bless America, our President, our National, State and community leaders as they all seek to serve our Citizens.

“God, Bless America.  Bless these folks here today.  I ask you to give them grace and peace, that as they seek your face, impart to them your wisdom, your courage and your hope, that they will do your will, at all times.

“Please God, bless America and our citizens who seek to live in peace and harmony as “One nation under God”.  Encourage us to do the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason.

“May your love surround our military and their families each and everyday and please God, Bless America and bring our troops safely home when all is done.”

Reverend Foss and his wife, Arlene, reside in Kingsland.
