Memorial Day

I hope that everyone got to enjoy Memorial Day yesterday. I was able to spend some time with my family on my farm in New Hartford.

On Memorial Day it’s good to remember the men and woman who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. We need to honor their acts of heroism and pay tribute to their selflessness as they fought to protect American values and ensure freedom for not only the present generation but for generations to come.

The Senate is in recess this week due to Memorial Day so I will be having a few more county visits. On Thursday of this week I will be in Davenport at a Kiwanis meeting and then I’ll head to De Witt for my Clinton County town hall meeting. On Monday, June 4 I will have my Winneshiek County town hall meeting in Calmar. After that meeting I will go tour Norplex-Micarta in Postville. Norplex-Micarta manufactures high performance thermoset composite laminates and distributes them worldwide. I really enjoy the opportunity to visit businesses like this. I always learn a lot while I’m there and it’s great to see Iowans producing world class products.

My Clinton County and Winneshiek County town hall meetings are open to the public. I hope that you will get a chance to come see me if you’re in the area.
