U. S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS) will attend events in Mississippi during the month of August from Tuesday, August 13, until Friday, August 30.

On Tuesday, August 13, at 9:00 a.m. (Central), Senator Cochran will speak at a ceremony marking the completion of a project involving Okatoma Creek. The event will take place on the Okatoma Bridge located on Highway 84 East of Collins.

At 11:00 a.m. (Central) on August 13, Senator Cochran will participate in a press conference to announce a National Endowment for the Arts grant awarded to the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art. The $27,000 grant will be used to assist with funding of a catalogue of the museum's Native American Basket Collection to be published in 2004 . The press conference will take place in the American Gallery at the museum, 565 North Fifth Avenue, in Laurel.

Following the press conference on August 13, the Senator will address the Laurel Rotary Club at 12:00 noon (Central) at the Laurel Country Club on Highway 84 West in Laurel.

Later on August 13, at 7:00 p.m. (Central), Senator Cochran will be the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Calhoun County Republican Party at the Calhoun County Courthouse in Pittsboro.

Senator Cochran will speak to the Canton Rotary Club on Thursday, August 15, at 12:00 noon (Central) at Penn's Fish House in Canton.

Later on August 15, the Senator will be presented with the 2002 Hope Award at the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Mississippi event at 6:30 p.m. (Central) at the Hilton Hotel on County Line Road in Jackson.

On Friday, August 30, at 1:30 p.m. (Central), Senator Cochran will be the featured speaker at the annual Charles W. Hartman Memorial Lecture at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. The lecture will take place on campus at Fulton Chapel. There is a reception following in Johnson Commons Ballroom on campus.
