Pilosocereus fulvilanatus
Pilosocereus fulvilanatus Pilosocereus fulvilanatus is a rare cactus that is endemic to the arid forests of eastern Brazil. For more than two centuries, forested lands in this area have been cleared for conversion to agricultural fields and for the production of charcoal. A few isolated populations of Pilosocereus fulvilanatus growing on rock outcroppings unsuitable for cultivation or livestock grazing have been spared and are being monitored and protected. Though few Pilosocereus fulvilanatus remain in the wild today, their off-site conservation has allowed for widespread propagation by nurseries and botanical gardens, and this cactus is now commonly found in cultivation.
