Tester statement on the nomination of Gen. Eric Shinseki  

Decorated veteran nominated to serve as Secretary of Veterans Affairs

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Senator Jon Tester, a member of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, today released the following statement following the nomination of General Eric Shinseki to serve as President-elect Obama's Secretary of Veterans Affairs:

"General Shinseki has an admirable record of hard work, dedication and service to the United States.  As Chief of Staff for the U.S. Army, General Shinseki was never afraid to speak up for his troops.

"The next Veterans Affairs Secretary has his work cut out for him.  I look forward to helping General Shinseki do what's right for Montana's veterans and for all men and women who served in our military."
