Boxer Statement on Announcement of Obama Environment and Energy Team
December 15, 2008

Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today made the following remarks regarding President-elect Obama's announcement that he will nominate Lisa Jackson to be Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency, Nancy Sutley to chair the White House Council on Environmental Quality, Carol Browner to lead White House climate and energy efforts, and Steven Chu to serve as Secretary of Energy:

Senator Boxer said: "The exciting and experienced team announced today by President-elect Obama signals that positive changes are coming as we work for energy independence and for solutions to global warming. As Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, I am looking forward to moving ahead with the confirmation process as quickly as possible."
