Energy Efficiency

Small businesses generate half of the nation's economy and are also responsible for half of all commercial and industrial energy use. With rising gas and energy costs placing a greater burden on small businesses' bottom lines than ever before, the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship is working to promote additional resources to help small firms become more energy efficient and develop the green technologies of the future to help combat global warming and improve their bottom line.

In 2007, the Committee's leaders successfully included provisions in the bipartisan energy bill that became law to assist small businesses in becoming more energy efficient through expanded loan access, efficiency audits with expanded financing options, informational resources, and priority consideration for Small Business Innovation Research grants that foster energy efficiency.
