@booksquare especially when pubs (like RH in particular) are pushing contract changes to lock in digital almost in perpetuity. Not cool.
@booksquare @susan_marie there's a better neighborhood sushi place I can take you to on your next respective NY trips. Deal?
@booksquare well obviously. There's no incentive for publishers to do so unless hardcover revenues completely disappear and even then, no.
verdict on new neighborhood sushi place: yellowtail good, spicy tuna/salmon/yellowtail good, regular fish meh.
@susan_marie good questions! I think because hardcover will end up going the way of the dodo, except maybe in YA. So why not realign model?
weird thought of the night: if readers prefer trade paperback to hardcover, why is there no move to bump up royalty rates for trade paper?
The LES MISERABLES sequels will see the light of day after all: http://tinyurl.com/3e8smk
@thesaturdayboy well yes, exactly - RR hit the NYT list (extended) for the first time ever! If more people read the book that is fantastic.
David Ulin on REVOLUTIONARY ROAD: http://tinyurl.com/3kx9t2
@mattbucher well it is easy to mangle the name, and probably they relied on the author to fact-check because newspapers barely copyedit now.
Former Harcourt publisher Andre Bernard comments on the publishing industry turmoil: http://snurl.com/8w3ux
@jomc pretty much. Though perversely I would like to see an article where all the Yates freaks watch the movie and discuss it.
@Colleen_Lindsay yeah I wished I could have been there earlier because it sounded like there was a lot of optimism in the face of crapitude.
@whet BWAHAHAHA. How about Mulligan Stew or Wittgenstein's Mistress? Actually, let's not jinx things
In movie alerts: REVOLUTIONARY ROAD is not only not worth seeing, it thinks it is a cross between AMERICAN BEAUTY and MAD MEN. Um, no.
@Colleen_Lindsay nah, I didn't drink nearly enough last night to cause a hangover. But it was a hell of a lot of fun!
@mkindness follow the link on the tweet that came after that. LAT considering cutting national/foreign bureaus and outsourcing to WaPo.
@Colleen_Lindsay what can I say, the news rendered me almost speechless.
