@PolarBearFarm I just updated my post with a link to your Hack Store post. Saw it in the comments on Hacker News
@timburks And there are a lot of developers more interested in making a buck than fostering a successful platform.
@timburks I'm in full support of doing the best we can as a developer community, but it's not like the old OSX days. App Store is cut throat
@timburks "If we..." get together and raise prices, it's called price fixing. Apple helping to solve the problem maintains competition.
Back from another day of writing. This time I take a deeper look at the market realities of App Store pricing: http://tinyurl.com/4zgyvp
@majicDave There have been too many external forces for me to discern any buying patterns yet. It took the Staff Pick to get in the top 100
@majicDave Gas Cubby bumped in and out of the top 100 enough to make me think it is strictly volume. If momentum is used, it's not much
@atebits The threshhold for the top 100 is around 300, so I'm guessing your sales yesterday were 350-500.
@atebits From what I've been able to tell; rankings are mostly done by volume with maybe a touch of momentum, but always 24 hours behind.
@PolarBearFarm Make sure the current build setting is the same as the profile you are editing.
@peterc Rare yes, but an issue that shouldn't be glossed over. It's the store itself that is driving prices down, not free market forces.
Opening Twitteriffic on the iPhone is like come home. Sometimes good UI is felt more than observed.
@gedeon The "iTunes placement is KING" line part was borrowed from @PolarBearFarm. Most peope who actually have apps in the store agree!
Some people didn't properly interpret my App Store blog post; iTunes placement is KING, free PR is queen, and ads aren't cost effective.
@PolarBearFarm I'm thining about another post RE your tweet: "iTunes placement is KING." People don't get that iTunes is not a free market.
@PolarBearFarm It's amazing the conclusions people have derived from my post. I thought the detail would make it less ambiguous, oh well.
just realized I sent @chockenberry a reply using Tweetie. EMBARASSING I have to admit though, I like search for finding tweets about my apps
@chockenberry Plus, the App Store is a whole new world. Even tried and true marketing techniques don't work the same way.
@chockenberry Thanks! The armchair commenters were pissing me off. People who haven't done marketing act like it's easy.
@bbatsell The comments haven't been as bad as I was expecting. We'll see if it gets worse, but it's not yet as bad as what @chockenberry saw
