PDX snow started melting this afternoon, but will surely freeze overnight. I'd rather have a foot of snow than 1/2 inch of refrozen slush.
Ecuador pics finally up on Facebook. 5 sets, broken into different regions/parts of the trip.
One thing i hate about traveling abroad is running into the inevitable ugly americans.
Jackie, bring lots of USD ones and fives for ecuador. Ones are hard to get here. twenties are almost useless. No one has much change.
Giant tortoises are indeed giant. So is their poop. Whole fields of tortoise poop on santa cruz island.
Snorkeled with sharks ans saw a big one , 6ft , from boat. No good shark pictures yet. Four more days in the galapogas to go.
No seasickness boat is comfortable.
Mobile service 600 miles from the mainland. Incredible snorkeling with sea turtles yesterday. Hoping to find sharks today.

thanksgiving dinner empanadas ans pilsners on calle amazonas
Sunny day. Great view of Cotopaxi volcano.
Saw Andean condors today. One was close enough to see the markings and really get a feel for the huge wingspan.
Drove over a pass in the andes today. Almost 14k feet. On the amazon side now. Tonight at thermal baths. Resting up for volcano climbing.
Not sure where we are but movistar has great coverage here. Staying in 300 year old hacienda near otavalo. Beautiful grounds with llamas ...
Hiking around quicocha. Much like crater lake. Walls of mist obscuring the scenery. Were told to look for condors but havent seen any.
Taking bus to more market towns. Weather pretty wet for first time. In general weather in the foothills, 10000ft foothills, has been good.
