Glad it looks like no one's hurt too bad. Moving on.
*Still* no story on denverpost.com. OR chron.com for that matter.
Now you can all be as confused as people who work in newsrooms and listen to police scanners all day.
via @andrewbarnett comes a link to this Denver scanner site: http://denver.co.scanameric...
@hoopycat has the same info at http://flightaware.com/live... (He's a developer at http://rocwiki.org, which I love.)
Correct answer: Go to continental.com and look for it: http://bit.ly/106Ky Plane was leaving DIA for IAH, obv. delayed.
Also kinda sad - two different CBS local TV sites have two different versions of whether flight was IAH to DIA or reverse. Hint: Flight #.
Really #sadpanda to see how many people don't bother googling a local news source to try and get more information when news breaks.
@derekwillis I'm not keeping score on that one. I passed on making the newspaper analogy to this the other day: http://bit.ly/B8En
So, http://cbs4denver.com/ gets a clear story up with a flight number and facts before any newspaper Web site touches the story.
@breakingnewson's source was a TV station in Colorado Springs, or the scanner report, which both were probably listening to, right?
OK, so that story has a 737 skidding off the runway at DIA and smoking. No crash. No fire.
Also fun to count the RTs. What, everyone isn't already following @breakingnewson ?
http://cbs4denver.com/ has "a plane" at DIA crashed and on fire.
@BreakingNewsOn has a 737 crashing in Denver - should we count the minutes until http://denverpost.com has a story? @freejoe76
@derekwillis @bergus (Hmm... $5/tweet... How much for this old thing: http://bit.ly/gxjT)
In that version of the near-future, major metro print battleships continue to have a hard time turning, and pirate boats abound.
Re: LAT - If I were a betting man, I'd bet on new online news operations with no legacy product rather than a de-pressed major metro.
@jeffjarvis Heh. I'm all-in on the future - you know that. "Can this paper be profitable without print?" Is a real-live question for me.
