Over-eager air conditioning for 1.5 hours, then evacuated due to fire alarm practice. Somehow it was a reasonably productive meeting anyway.
In a meeting room with 17 other people. The (v. noisy) air conditioning seems to have jammed itself on at full blast. Fighting hot air? :-)
BBC social media training workshop went well today. Think my talk was a bit didactic but @row and @jemstone were great. Repeating it in Feb.
Sneaky last minute preparation for today's social media training workshop thing. Also, lunch.
Bed time. Slightly later start tomorrow for an internal course I'm teaching in the afternoon. Changing alarm clocks for an extra hour in bed
(and yes, I was polite about it; told them about it first, didn't mention their name anywhere, and they have dealt with it well)
@biscuitware it was dreadful because it was sent to a long list of emails (not BCCd). The person in question has been very good about it tho
Just got a dreadful PR promotional email from a major comedy website. Replied with a single sentence: "You're doing it wrong".
@doctoe is rocking the karaoke, giving an unexpected but entirely welcome punk twist to 99 Red Balloons
Christmas party tonight.
Congratulating @robsmart and Hanan on the birth of their baby daughter, Lucy Daliah Smart. I bet she's adorable.
Quick pint at The Green in Shepherd's Bush with @rich13. There are adorably geeky people playing tabletop role-playing games downstairs.
Spam of the day: "i will also like to know you the more and i want you to send an email to my email address so i can give you my picture..."
Enjoying hacking Scheme. I'd always heard that Lisp stood for 'Lots of Irritating Superfluous Parentheses' and now I know that it's true :-)
Brushing up on my Scheme (a dialect of the Lisp programming language). Teaching myself to use 'impromptu' (http://impromptu.moso.com.au/)
Very full up with good food, happy and slightly tipsy. Preparing to sleep the sleep of the satisfied. Why can't all trains be steam trains?
Steam train, lovely meal, magnum of sparking red (!) wine, ... highly civilised
Another train, but one I'm really looking forward to; dinner with friends on the Watercress Line (charming steam train restaurant)
@TalkToshiba Thanks for the loan of the Qosmio G40. Here's what I thought of it: http://tinyurl.com/5czlbk
Feeling lucky to have a seat on this (busy) train. Having stood this week, eyes peeled for old people and pregnant women with whom to swap
