A few showers or sprinkles will slide into the area over the next few hours.
Hype check: Someone in KC is saying we'll have an ice storm next week. While thermal setup may develop, its WAY TOO EARLY for where & when.
Forecast: Thursday - Partly cloudy. High: 37 http://kcweather.org/?p=2724 (watching arctic air due in Sunday afternoon) brrr
With winds dropping off quickly overnight, we had temps to around 10 degrees this morning! We may struggle to hit 30 this afternoon.
Forecast: Wednesday - Partly cloudy to mostly sunny. High: 32 http://kcweather.org/?p=2723
Snow is beginning to taper off NW to SE across the metro area. Many roads are snow covered, so be careful on the drive home.
Snow is reforming once again. I expect another half inch to 1 inch of snow in many areas before it ends early this evening.
The band of snow is still going strong SE of the I-35 corridor and across the SE side of the metro area.
Cracked open a chat room at http://LRCWeather.com/chat to talk about the snow. I'll be in and out of it today.
We're already seeing some accumulation and it's only changed over to snow here in Overland Park for about 5 minutes.
A little freezing rain/sleet is coming down right now. Should change over to snow soon. Burlington, KS to the SW is already reporting snow.
@angelchrys Ottawa, Emporia, Wicita. I'm watching the band form right now. Heaviest MAY be JUST south of I-35.
@Nkcaump Haha. Yeah, my son is already convinced that tomorrow will be a snow day. He's not too happy with my response.
As expected, there is a break in the precipitation. Snow should begin after 9:00. 1-2, 1-3 inches this afternoon. Heaviest SW of KC.
Tuesday - Rain changing to light snow. Windy. High: 34 (falling into the 20s.) Accumulations of 1-3 inches expected http://is.gd/aNKk
I cracked open the chat room over at http://LRCWeather.com for anyone intested in the threat for snow tomorrow.
The new data is rolling in. Computer model #1 (NAM) suggests 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow. Much more to look at to see if it's valid.
New data shows limited threat for snow tomorrow. It's possible we only pick up a dusting to 1/4 inch in the end. http://is.gd/aJDa
Snow chances continue to look weak for tomorrow. ESPECIALLY since we are in the 50s now. As I mentioned last night, likely less than 1".
Snow chances on Tuesday... minor accumultions expected (less than 2 inches, likely less than 1 inch in many areas)
