Codes & Standards electronic editions have full-search capabilities.  All files are encrypted and locked to your personal computer in PDF format.  They can be purchased for Adobe Acrobat (or the free Acrobat Reader) on the Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems and a compatible Web browser. 

"FileOpen" Plug-in for Acrobat Required:  To view an encrypted ASME PDF, you must have either "Adobe Acrobat" or the free "Acrobat Reader" installed. An additional "FileOpen" plug-in for Acrobat must also be installed to view any ASME Codes & Standards PDF file.

ASME encrypted C&S PDF files are now viewable on Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Sun versions of Acrobat.  The FileOpen plug-in will work with the current release of Acrobat (8.x) and earlier versions down to Acrobat 4.05.   ASME Codes and Standards will not open from a shared network file server or if transferred to another computer.  

You will need an Internet connection the FIRST TIME YOU OPEN AND ACTIVATE your e-book.  After activation, your file will be locked to your computer.  An Internet connection is NOT required for subsequent use. Your file is portable on a laptop, etc.

FileOpen Plug-in Installation/Troubleshooting:  If you are purchasing an encrypted C&S PDF for use on a corporate computer, you may need to contact your local Information Technology group to install the plug-in for Adobe Acrobat.  Some companies restrict the ability to install software or plug-ins.  Please be aware that encrypted C&S PDF files will not work if loaded on a corporate network for shared use.  They are locked and encrypted to your individual computer.
