@Eadwacer42: thanks for that, I'll have a look.
@NicoleSimon : welcome to the glorious world of viable systems model, Stafford Beer and the great Wiener.
@NicoleSimon : no problem, after that take a look at Ashby, Schumpeter, Valen, H.Simon and then if you want to dive deep into fundamentals..
@freecloud: we need to a "school of cybernetic management" - the complex systems work from the 20's - 40's was incredible.
@freecloud: Ashby's explains a heck of lot of what goes wrong in management. It's in my view one of the four pillars.
Ashby's Law of Requisite Variety, H. Simon's theory of hierarchy, Schumpeter's creative destruction and Valen's Red Queen Hypothesis - magic
@NicoleSimon: if you're interested, try Stephen Gould's Full House, all zero in on the same management problem defined by Ashby's Law.
@NicoleSimon: have you read the unfinished revolution - http://www.bootstrap.org/co...
@monkchips: earlier post should have said ..."and NOT a replacement for it?"
@monkchips: Like government pillage, such as buying up Taylor Wimpey and using it for government backed social housing / public buildings.
@monkchips: do you mean we want a more keynesian approach, the economy as a tool for society and a replacement for it?
@pcarles: possibly, otherwise there is always (hopefully) FOWA / Web 2.0 Europe / Head and other conferences.
@pcarles: I'm now creating an entirely new style (video+slides+interaction), hopefully for FOWA. It'll be finished in four months.
@pcarles: It looks like a great line-up. I did propose talks for LeWeb in both 07/08, I just didn't make the grade.
@pcarles: so was LeWeb good?
Anyone know where the CFP for OSCON 2009 is? I'm hoping that there will be an open source cloud computing track
@monkchips: When a commodity is portable, has value and there is variance in supply / demand over time - there is always future(s).
@monkchips: In the 1950s, the idea of a futures/spot market in Energy was considered to be BS as nuclear was going to make it zero cost.
@jamesurquhart: well, it's excellent news. I'm very pleased for you and you deserve congratulations for all your efforts in this field.
is LeWeb any good? Who are the best speakers? most interesting / most informative.
