When Mr. Patterson says "journalism is important, we are not". To me, this says: Without objectivity, journalism has no "purpose".
@shannonpaul - I'm listening. If you decide to continue sharing on this topic.
@danpatterson-Maybe it's time for the individual journalist to "manifest" that importance. Social media may be just the tool. Good luck sir.
@danpatterson - Respectfully, I would beg to differ. Journalism needs to become great again. Just needs someone to "ignite" the spark.
@danpatterson - You (journalism) as a medium are "hugely" important. Journalism is the guardian of a healthy democracy. Welcome.
@danpatterson - I am excited that journalists have arrived and see a future here. I think a debate is "needed" about the journalists role.
@danpatterson This space is for all of us to share. Times are changing for all of us. Social media was created by the "pioneers". One more.
@danpatterson - I think it's great that you are pushing the envelope. I do the same thing in my own way. But...
Personally, I don't think journalism is in any position to be arrogant in today's age. Arrogance will represent the "old era" of journalism.
@danpatterson Sir. I appreciate devil's advocate, but this "seemingly marketing obsessed medium" is where journalism is finding a new home.
Thinking the best "new era" journalists on Twitter will interact (within reason) with the community, graciously and with an open mind.
@danpatterson - I don't think that is a bad thing, or uncool thing. We just need to put it in perspective, and be real about it. My 2 cents.
@danpatterson -At best, marketing is about letting the human spirit soar, to reach it's creative potential. Amazing things can then happen.

@danpatterson Sir. I agree with you on the "aspire to do things" part. However, respectfully disagree on the marketing not being cool part.

Going into journalist mode to report on the It's a Wonderful Life" event in Seneca Falls, NY this week.
"Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies." Quote by Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) The Shawshank Redemption
"Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane." Quote from Red Redding (Morgan Freeman) The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
@amykchulik- And yes, agree to disagree is fine. I just think the journalistic profession could use some healthy spirited debate these days.
