Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard Announces Millions in Federal Funding to Help the Homeless in the 34th District and throughout Los Angeles

Washington, D.C. - Working to end chronic homelessness, Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard is pleased to announce this week the combined award of more than $5.7 million to help the chronically homeless in Los Angeles to obtain the housing, job training, health care and other transitional services they need to improve the quality of their lives.

Congresswoman Roybal-Allard said the federal funding is part of a new interagency initiative to best utilize the services offered by 20 federal agencies and departments to end chronic homelessness.

"In Los Angeles, just like in most major cities, chronic homelessness remains a serious problem. The new initiative is intended to promote collaboration among the different federal agencies and departments that serve the long-term homeless to make sure their often complex physical and mental needs are adequately addressed. The chronically homeless make up a very vulnerable segment of our population and we cannot, in good conscience, allow them to continue falling through the cracks. We must do what we can to make sure the federal homeless funds made available by Congress reach the people in most need of assistance," Congresswoman Roybal-Allard said.

The following $3.6 million federal homeless funds were announced this week for Los Angeles as part of a "Labor-HUD Partnership" to help the long-term homeless obtain jobs and permanent housing:
