(October 16, 2004) Congresswoman Roybal-Allard stands with Cadet Joshua Ramirez of Huntington Park, Joshua's mother, Ms. Martha Ramirez (second on left), and Bellflower Mayor Dorothy King (far right) at the congresswoman's service academy workshop in Bellflower. Ramirez, who attends the prestigious United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and other representatives from our nation's U.S. service academies conduct ed the congresswoman's annual workshop for students interested in attending the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Following a highly competitive admissions process, academy students receive a free college education in return for serving at least five years in the military following graduation.
