(December 13, 2006) Boyle Heights - Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard visited the University of Southern California's Health Sciences Campus in Boyle Heights where she met with Dr. Brian Richardson, Dean of the USC Keck School of Medicine, and children from Murchison Street Elementary School. The campus is a major center for basic and clinical biomedical research, especially in the fields of cancer, gene therapy, the neurosciences, and transplantation biology. The campus' "Partner Schools Task Force" helps thousands of neighborhood schoolchildren at four surrounding schools, including Murchison Street Elementary School and Francisco Bravo Medical Magnet High School in the 34th Congressional District. The task force works to increase access to health care by students, their families and community members and to leverage the university's resources in order to provide services that benefit the schools and community.
