(August 1, 2006) Downey, CA - Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) hands out her constituent service brochures to seniors at the Barbara J. Riley Community Senior Center on Quill Drive in Downey. The congresswoman urged the seniors to contact her district office at (213) 628-9230 should they need assistance resolving problems with federal agencies such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Social Security Administration and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The congresswoman also reminded the seniors that open enrollment for Medicare's new prescription drug plan begins November 15 for coverage starting in 2007. This is also an opportunity for Medicare beneficiaries who enrolled in 2006 to switch plans if they wish.
