(February 22, 2006) Downtown, Los Angeles - During a meeting in Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard's (CA-34) downtown Los Angeles office, the congresswoman and Deputy Consul General of Israel Yaron Gamburg discussed the rich local history that the Jewish and Latino communities share in Los Angeles and the ongoing need for both groups to work in partnership toward shared priorities in the United States. They also discussed important recent political developments in the Middle East, including the outcome of the January Palestinian elections and the upcoming Israeli national election in March. As a member of the Appropriations Committee in Congress, the congresswoman reiterated her support of peace-building operations in the Middle East. The deputy consul general is based in Los Angeles at the consulate which is responsible for Israeli relations with Southern California, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.
