(May 11, 2005) Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard reads Alphabet Fiesta as part of the Association of American Publishers' "Get Caught Reading" campaign. In its seventh year, the campaign is designed to promote the joy of reading. As part of the association's Spanish-language reading campaign called ¡Ajá, leyendo!, the publishers have designated May "Latino Books Month." Throughout the month, booksellers, librarians, and others in the book industry are encouraged to promote reading among Latinos in their communities, and to raise awareness about the rich variety of books authored by Latinos available in both English and Spanish. Resource kits containing a Latino Summer Reading List, a brochure of Latino books, and other information, are free upon request. Click here for more information.
