(May 4, 2005) Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard met with Mr. Thaddeus Phillips, City Librarian for the Downey City Library, and other Los Angeles-area library representatives during the American Library Association's 31st Annual National Library Legislative Day. They discussed federal funding for programs under the Library Services and Technology Act. This year, the City of Downey used funds under this program to purchase materials for its international language collections and its programs to assist small business owners.
