(March 15, 2005) Washington, D.C. - Mayor Anne Bayer of the City of Downey (pictured on the right) met with Congresswoman Roybal-Allard to discuss the Downey Landing Project and one of its key components, the Columbia Memorial Space Science Learning Center, at the site of the former NASA space shuttle manufacturing facility in the city. The congresswoman was the lead sponsor of the legislation approved last year to name the learning center in honor of the seven Space Shuttle Columbia astronauts who lost their lives on Februrary 1, 2003.
