(March 15, 2005) Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard meets with officials from the California Hospital Medical Center in downtown Los Angeles to discuss the hospital's federal funding needs. During the visit, the officials thanked the congresswoman for her assistance in obtaining $2.26 million in federal funding for the Center's Women's Health Pavilion. In recognition of her assistance, the Center is planning to honor the congresswoman in June. Following approval of the funding last year, the congresswoman made the following statement about the Center: "As a leading health care provider in the Los Angeles area, the California Hospital Medical Center is to be commended for serving patients who lack health insurance and who might otherwise go without treatment for potentially life-threatening ailments. I am honored to have been able to play a role in helping to secure federal funding to help the Center expand its services. When complete, the Women's Pavilion and Health Center will help even more people in need of care and provide, under one roof, childbirth facilities and many other health services vital to women. In addressing critical needs, the new Center will provide a tremendous contribution to the community."
