(October 17, 2007) Washington, D.C. - Representatives from Phoenix Houses of California thank Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) for her ongoing efforts to secure federal funding for the organization’s adolescent substance abuse-treatment programs that serve hundreds of at-risk youth in Los Angeles County each year.  Phoenix Academy of Los Angeles, located in Lake View Terrace in the San Fernando Valley, is the only long-term adolescent residential substance abuse rehabilitative and mental health treatment center in Los Angeles County. A longtime advocate of the organization and a member of the Appropriations Committee in Congress, Congresswoman Roybal-Allard secured $400,000 in federal funds in recent years from the U.S. Department of Justice to enable the organization to expand its rehabilitation services and to address the teen methamphetamine crisis in Los Angeles County.  Phoenix House officials also thanked the congresswoman for co-sponsorship of a House Resolution celebrating the organization’s 40th anniversary.
