(July 26, 2007) Downtown, Los Angeles - More than 300 guests attended the 8th Annual Girls Today, Women Tomorrow Fashion Show Luncheon held at the Center at Cathedral Plaza. On behalf of Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard, Lisa Roybal Elliott, the congresswoman’s daughter, accepted the Girls Today, Women Tomorrow Inspiración Award bestowed upon the congresswoman for her ongoing support of the organization, including her successful effort to secure federal funding for the after-school program. Founded in 1996 and based in Boyle Heights in the congresswoman’s district, Girls Today, Women Tomorrow offers one-on-one mentoring, leadership retreats, community service, and educational opportunities, for young women ages 12-21. Girls Today, Women Tomorrow, works to empower young women to pursue higher education and create positive change in their community.
