(July 20, 2007) South Park, Downtown Los Angeles - Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard participated in the grand opening festivities for a new Ralphs Fresh Fare grocery store in downtown Los Angeles in the 34th District, the first major grocery store in the area in 50 years. An estimated one thousand people gathered at the front steps of the store at 645 West 9th Street between Flower and Olive Streets in downtown, where the congresswoman joined Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Los Angeles City Councilmember Jan Perry in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the store’s opening. About 160 new jobs were created by the store’s opening.
