ROYBAL-ALLARD PINS MEDALS ON
WWII VETERAN

Fifty-seven years after he left the military, Jesus Ybarra receives his medals

Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard will pin 7 honors on Jesus Ybarra, a World War II veteran and resident of Los Angeles in a ceremony with family, friends and other veterans at Patriotic Hall in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 30th at 11 a.m.

Jesus Ybarra was born in Mexico and moved to the United States at age 2. He grew up in Los Angeles and joined the Army at age 22. After training in the United States, he was deployed in Oran, North Africa. In 1944, he joined Company E 351st Infantry Regiment of the 88th Infantry Division in Italy, where he fought on the ground.

After the War ended, Jesus became a citizen of the United States in June of 1945. He was Honorably Discharged from the Army on November 11, 1945.

Jesus Ybarra is married to the former Ms. Julia Seja. He is the father of two children, Edward and Frederick, who both served in the U.S Army.

Congresswoman Roybal-Allard's office helped Mr. Ybarra obtain his honors by assisting him in the application process. He will receive: the Bronze Star Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, and the Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII.
