Rogers: East Alabama Farmers to Testify
Tuesday at Agriculture Hearing
Chambers, Montgomery, Randolph farmers chosen as witnesses

Washington, D.C.  -  Congressman Mike Rogers said today three East Alabama farmers who serve on his Agricultural Advisory Committee will testify Tuesday at a Congressional hearing in Auburn.

The farmers, Bill Thomas from Chambers County; Garry Henry from Montgomery County; and Bob Yates from Randolph County, were selected by the Committee to testify based on the commodities they produce, Rogers said.

“I am thrilled the Agriculture Committee is coming to Alabama and will hear directly from some of the Third District’s farmers,” Rogers said. “The Farm Bill is a critically important piece of legislation for Alabama and I deeply appreciate Chairman Goodlatte for offering our state this opportunity.”

Rogers said the hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, February 7, at 10:00 a.m., at Auburn University. Rogers said Agriculture Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) will chair the hearing, which will follow a similar meeting Monday in North Carolina. The hearing will be held at the Foy Union Ballroom and will be open to the public. Other witnesses will soon be announced by the Committee.

Alabama Congressmen Terry Everett (R-Rehobeth) and Jo Bonner (R-Mobile) will also attend the hearing, along with Committee Ranking Member Rep. Colin Peterson (D-Minn.).

Rogers is a member of the House Committee on Agriculture, and serves on the Subcommittees on Livestock & Horticulture; Specialty Crops and Foreign Programs; and Conservation, Credit, Rural Development & Research.
