Position History:
Position established 1919. First laureate was Alice Polk Hill. The poet is appointed by the governor from a list of candidates recommended by the Colorado Center for the Book, the Colorado Endowment for the Humanities, and the Colorado Arts Council. The appointment, formerly lifetime, is now a four-year term.

Margaret Clyde Robinson (1952-1954)
