Fishing at the sandbar. Protecting human health and minimizing the risks to humans from water-related health hazards is a priority for the Lake Champlain Basin Program. Potential health risks associated with poor water quality include drinking water contamination, eating contaminated fish, swimming in contaminated waters, and blue-green algae toxins.
