NRCS Maryland Announces Sign-up for $6 Million in EQIP Conservation Funding from USDA Farm Bill

Annapolis, MD, December 12, 2005 - Virginia (Ginger) L. Murphy, State Conservationist for the US Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Maryland, announced that Maryland received approximately $6,057,344 in fiscal year 2006 conservation funding for financial assistance to Maryland's farmers through the USDA Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), part of the 2002 Farm Bill. NRCS has leadership responsibility within USDA for implementing EQIP.

NRCS Opens Sign-Up for $440,000 in USDA Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program Funds

ANNAPOLIS, MD (December 1, 2005) ---Virginia (Ginger) L. Murphy, State Conservationist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announced that Maryland and the District of Columbia received funding of $ 439,798 from the 2002 Farm Bill to use to restore wildlife habitat through the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP).

Information Forums for Technical Service Providers

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is holding Information Forums on the Technical Service Provider (TSP) Program across the Nation. The Information Forums are public meetings that will enable NRCS to establish an ongoing dialogue with local Technical Service Providers by listening to and addressing their questions and concerns.

USDA Announces Sign-up and Availability of Funds for Grassland Reserve Program in Maryland

Columbia, MD, August 9, 2005—Landowners have less than a month to submit applications for the Grassland Reserve Program (GRP), administered jointly by the USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). August 26, 2005 is the deadline to submit GRP offers and have them considered for funding in September. This year, Maryland has $133,200 available for qualifying applicants.

Maryland Farmers Sign Nation's First CSP Contract for 2005

USDA Deputy Secretary Chuck Conner signed a Conservation Security Program (CSP) contract of 2005 at a ceremony at the Rasche Brothers Farm on John Shirk Road in Carroll County, Md., on July 25. It was the first farm in the nation to be signed up for the new program this year.

The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announces two solicitations for contractual services for the preparation of Prescribed Grazing Plans (PGP). These solicitations are being advertised on FedBizOpps, the US Government wide point of entry for electronic access by the public.  Solicitation No. AG-3B19-S-05-0003 is a full and open competition and is open to all candidates who meet the required qualifications.  Solicitation No. AG-3B19-S-05-0004 is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business set-aside which is reserved only for service-disabled veteran-owned small business concerns who meet the required qualifications.

Doss, State Conservationist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Maryland, announced that Maryland received approximately $5,473,223 in fiscal year 2005 conservation funding for financial assistance to Maryland's farmers through the USDA Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), part of the 2002 Farm Bill. NRCS has leadership responsibility within USDA for implementing EQIP.
