Full Report (PDF, 18 pages)

Summary

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO reviewed certain allegations regarding the Chairman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, whose nomination is pending before a Senate committee.

GAO found that: (1) the evidence and documentation it reviewed did not substantiate 12 of the 16 allegations; (2) 2 of the other allegations could not be determined as valid since they depended in part on the Chairman's intent; and (3) in the other 2 cases, an employee refused to be interviewed, precluding a GAO determination.
