RT @sandentotten [In The Loop is] looking for stories that will cheer people up for this week's show. Any suggestions folks?
Please RT - @taylorbarr needs a place to stay this Thursday in Paris. Anyone that can help DM me and I'll pass it on. United Air messed up
@BudGibson None of those decode URL parameters -- just encode one. I'm going to go with the jQuery plugin.
RT @dgtlpapercuts: A contact has reduced news consumption and is focused on his business, rather than economy talk. Sounds good to me.
@t_a_w Writing it myself means worrying about URL encoding and possibly screwing it up. I'd rather use well-proven code someone else wrote.
@BudGibson Is there a standard JavaScript to decode URL encoding, too? That's notably missing from that blog post.
Dear Lazyweb: Does either JQuery or Prototype give you easy access to the query parameters of the URL?
@DRMacIver And improving your resume moving forward. It's a good tactic but a consequence is your client will always have a bit more power.
RT @BarCampCLT: so what's everyone doing January 23rd & 24th?
@DRMacIver Supply of you vs. demand of companies that want to pay you. In your case, demand of elitist companies that want to pay you. :)
@DRMacIver See, there you go reducing the demand side of the equation again...
@DRMacIver I'd say only 25% of developers just don't get it. 50% are undermotivated. The other 25% are varying degrees of solid. Generous?
@DRMacIver Yeah. That gets tricky. Although being "the guy our tech lead is really impressed with" is categorically different, too. :)
@DRMacIver My experience is that I need to be qualitatively different. I'm not "a developer", I'm the Autobase creator and an author.
@DRMacIver If they still think of you as just an excellent example of "a developer", the leverage is theirs: lots of developers out there.
@DRMacIver If hiring manager gets that the market is in your favor, then the hiring questions should actually be asymmetric in your favor.
@DRMacIver The market is in your favor if the supply of companies willing to pay your rate > the supply of you. "Interesting" is irre ......
@mgkimsal If you find it, do share.
@DRMacIver @llimllib The trick is getting to a point where you are unique: a supply of one. Any demand > 1 therefore becomes your power.
